Picking the right paint color
When painting TrimLogic, choosing the right paint type and color will ensure a truly low maintenance, long-lasting painted finish. Using paint that does not meet TrimLogic guidelines may cause the product to overheat, leading to undesirable product defects such as warping, oil canning, or buckling. When you follow the required guideline, you help ensure long-lasting exterior protection and low-maintenance performance.
General painting guidelines
Only use 100% water-based acrylic paint approved for exterior application
Wipe with a dry cloth prior to painting to ensure surface is clean
TrimLogic does not need priming or special prep
TrimLogic must be painted within 180 days of installation
LRV – Light Reflective Value
The LRV number represents the percentage of light reflected by a color. The higher the LRV number, the more light is reflected. The lower the LRV number, the more light is absorbed. To help understand the scale, true white has a LRV rating of 100 and true black has LRV rating of 0. You can see this on the chart below.
Exterior trim is constantly exposed to sunlight. When not reflected, light is absorbed as energy and converted to heat. Excessive heat can cause trim and siding to expand and contract. This results in bowing, buckling, or deforming of the product.
To avoid this, we recommend determining the LRV of your desired color before using and follow TrimLogic's guidelines on this page. If you follow TrimLogic's paint & color selection guideline and install instructions you will ensure long-lasting and low-maintenance exteriors.
Paint Manufacturers will often display the LRV on paint swatches and/or on their website. If you cannot find the LRV of a paint you should not use it on TrimLogic products.
Recommended Colors
The collection of colors listed below are readily available or have an LRV above 55. When these colors are produced in an exterior 100% acrylic latex paint, they meet TrimLogic’s painting guidelines to help ensure the best overall product performance.

Each color below lists the specific manufacturer color name, number and LRV rating. Be sure to use this exact information when selecting your final color choice.

- Element Guard® Exterior Paint
STEP 3: VISIT PAINT MANUFACTURER STORE OR WEBSITE
Before making your final color choice we recommend you view an actual paint sample or color swatch which are available by visiting a local paint store or by ordering online.

If you want to use a color that is not shown, ensure it also has an LRV above 55 to meet our standards for quality and vibrancy.

Custom Color & Special Order Paints
TrimLogic has partnered with PPG to create a special-order & custom color match process. When special-ordered, these paints are formulated by PPG with a special solar reflective pigments that reduce heat absorption allowing them to be used on TrimLogic products. This paint formulation, available via special-order, expands the range of colors approved for use on TrimLogic materials including black, deep blues, dark browns and more.
STEP 1: IDENTIFY YOUR COLOR
Browse selection of offered colors from PPG in their Acri-Shield Max paint product or identify a desired paint color name and product number from another manufacturer.
STEP 2: CONTACT US TO START SPECIAL ORDER PROCESS

Approved colors available for special-order
When formulated in PPG's Acri-Shield Max (exterior latex paint) and special ordered through TrimLogic customer service even darker colors can be used on TrimLogic due to special color reflective pigments used.
